Leopold Gruber (politician)

Leopold Gruber (born August 21, 1885 in Andorf , Upper Austria; † May 7, 1970 in Schärding , Upper Austria) was an Austrian farmer , popular educator and politician .

Life

The farmer's son Gruber took part in the First World War, was badly wounded and received the Silver Medal of Bravery . He married in 1919, but his wife died that same year. He was an active public educator, mastered several musical instruments and was particularly active in music education. Its greater importance, however, lay in the poetic field; he sang above all the beauties of his closer home.

From 1931 to 1934 he was a member of the Landtag for the Landbund . From 1938 to 1945 Gruber was an office manager in the Schärding district farming community, then without a livelihood until he was employed by an insurance company.
