Leopold Hochgatterer
Leopold Hochgatterer (born April 11, 1899 in Waldhausen im Strudengau , † March 13, 1971 in Mauthausen ) was an Austrian stone worker and politician ( SPÖ ). From 1945 to 1966 he was a member of the Upper Austrian Landtag .
Life and Political Work
Leopold Hochgatterer first attended compulsory schools, then he worked as a stone worker. As a result of the civil war of 1934 , he was briefly arrested twice, but acquitted of suspicion of theft of explosives. 1945 Hochgatterer became mayor of Mauthausen; he held this position until 1970. In addition, he was local and district party chairman of the SPÖ. In 1945, Hochgatterer was also elected to the Upper Austrian Landtag , to which he belonged until 1966. He also worked as the trade union secretary for the construction and woodworkers in Linz.
Hochgatterer was married and had three children.
