Lepidotonpolis (also Lepidopolis ; ancient Egyptian Behdet ) was an ancient Egyptian city in Upper Egypt and is located near the modern Nag el-Mescheich . The place was on the Nile opposite the city of Girga , whose necropolises were also found in Lepidotonpolis.
The remains of a temple of Ramses II and the rock grave of the high priest of Onuris , Anhurmose were found . Another decorated grave belongs to the official Imiseba . City god was the lion goddess Mehit , but the lepidotus fish also enjoyed special veneration .
