Lepisosteus is a genus of bake thatoccursin four species in North and Central America.

features

The Lepisosteus species differ from the species of the genus Atractosteus in that they only have a series of enlarged fangs along the outer jaw , while the palatine bone does not have any enlarged teeth. The gill traps are smaller and pear-shaped, with only 14 to 33 rays on the first gill arch. The physique is slimmer than Atractosteus and the snout is clearly elongated. On back , tail and anal fins , they have spots.
