The spotted bonefish ( Lepisosteus oculatus ) is a solitary predatory fish up to 1.20 meters long. The fish are 60 centimeters to 1.12 meters long, weigh a maximum of 4.4 kg and reach an age of 18 years. Their body is brownish to olive green with an irregular pattern of dark spots, the sides are lighter than the back, the belly almost white. As with all bake, the caudal fin is rounded and slightly heterocerk . The dorsal and anal fin are symmetrically opposite each other just before the caudal peduncle, they have 7 to 9 fin rays .

distribution

It lives in the Mississippi River basin and in other rivers that flow into the Gulf of Mexico , from the far west of Florida to the Nueces River near Corpus Christi . You also go in brackish water .
