Leptokarya ( Greek Λεπτοκαρυά ( f. Sg. )) Is a village in the east of the municipality of Filiates in the Greek region of Epirus . Together with the hamlet of Agia Marina, it forms the easternmost local community of the municipality.

Leptokarya is located in a mountainous area, three kilometers away from the Ethniki Odos 6 , at the height of Vrosyna (Βροσύνα). Ioannina is 45 km away. The extensive district of the place borders in the north on Mourgana (Μουργκάνα), in the west on the Velouna Mountains (όρη Βελούνα), the Prophiti Elia Malouniou (Προφήτη Ηλία Μαλουνίλω in the south) and Vlachoritikos Mountains (ρωτω) and Vlachoritikos Σούλι) and in the east on the Olytsikas the Kalochorios (Καλοχωρίο) and the Pindos Mountains, as well as the Kasidiari (όρη Κασιδιάρη) and Nemertzika (Νεμέρτζικα).
Administrative division
Leptokarya was recognized in 1919 as a rural community (Κοινότητα Λεπτοκαρυάς) of the Ioannina Prefecture . By separating from Ioannina Prefecture, Leptokarya came to Thesprotia Prefecture in 1949 . The settlement of Agia Marina was recognized as settlements in 1961 and Agia Varvara in 1991. After the community reform in 1997 , Leptokarya was incorporated into Filiates with another 41 rural communities . This in turn was merged with Sagiada as a result of the 2010 administrative reform . Since then Leptokarya has had the status of a local community.
