Filiates ( Greek Φιλιάτες ( f. Pl. ); Albanian Filat / -i ) is a Greek city in the municipality of the same name. The municipality of Filiates is located in the Epirus region .
Filiates is 10 km east of the fishing village of Sagiada , between the Kalamas River and the Greek-Albanian border . The city has its own barracks and a hospital, which is responsible for large parts of the population in the south-east of Thesprotias . In 2011 the city had 2639 inhabitants.
Filati was home to many Çamen until they were expelled by nationalist Greeks after the Second World War . The nationalists accused them of collaboration with the occupying power and drove the Çamen to Albania or Turkey (they were of Islamic faith), some were also murdered. There was a school for Albanian children in Filati during World War II .
