Nikolaos Skoufas ( Greek Νικόλαος Σκουφάς ( m. Sg. )) Is a municipality in the south of the Greek region of Epirus . It was formed on January 1st, 2011 from the amalgamation of three municipalities and the rural municipality of Kommeno, today's municipal districts. The administrative center is the small town of Peta. The community is named after the co-founder of Filiki Eteria Nikolaos Skoufas , who was born in Komboti .

The municipality of Nikolaos Skoufas is located in the south of the Epirus region . With 231.842 km² it is the smallest municipality in terms of area. The Pournari reservoir dammed up by the Arachthos forms the north-west border with the neighboring municipality of Arta to the west . The Arachthos itself leaves the municipality near the city of Arta and re-enters the municipality a few kilometers south, where it finally flows into the Ambracian Gulf . In the east, the municipalities of Amfilochia and Georgios Karaiskakis border, in the north lies the municipality of Kendrika Tzoumerka .
Administrative division
As part of the 2010 administrative reform , the municipality of Nikolaos Skoufas was formed from the merger of the three municipalities of Peta , Arachthos and Komboti and the rural municipality of Kommeno . Since then, these have had the status of municipal districts.
