Kurt Fürchtegott Georg von Schlichting (born January 17, 1751 in Kummerow , Regenwalde district , † January 16, 1823 in Insterburg ) was a Prussian major general .

origin

His parents were the Prussian Rittmeister a. D. , lieutenant colonel from Electoral Saxony and Mr. auf Bauchwitz and Kummerow, Karl Ludwig von Schlichting (* 1703; † March 29, 1769) and his second wife Katharina Magdalena von Tresckow (* September 23, 1724; † January 3, 1786).

Life

In 1766 he joined the Dragoon Regiment No. 8 as a private corporal . There he became ensign on April 2, 1767 and second lieutenant on October 12, 1770. As such, he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . On July 8, 1784 he was Premier-Lieutenant, on July 1, 1789 staff captain and on January 21, 1792 major. Then he fought in the campaign in Poland in 1794/95 . On March 1, 1795 he was then appointed squadron chief. On May 23, 1800 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and then on May 28, 1802, he became a colonel . He took part in the Fourth Coalition War and resigned on November 27, 1807 with the character of major general. At first he received half his salary, but only received his final departure in 1813 with a pension of 60 thalers. He died unmarried on January 16, 1823 in Insterburg.

In his assessment from the year 1804 by General Karl von Esebeck it says about the colonel at the time: has acquired a lot of practical service knowledge, read about it and thought about it, he is active, has a lot of enthusiasm for service, which I had the opportunity to notice.
