Ivan Nikolajewitsch Anikejew ( Russian Иван Николаевич Аникеев ; born February 12, 1933 in Svoboda , Voronezh Oblast , Soviet Union ; † August 20, 1992 in Besezk , Tver Oblast , Russia ) was a Soviet aspirant cosmonaut . He belonged to the first cosmonaut group in the Soviet Union , but retired prematurely for disciplinary reasons without having participated in a space flight.

Life

Military career

After graduating from school, Anikeev joined the Soviet Air Force in 1952. Until 1956 he was trained as a pilot for the Yak-25 fighter plane , then stationed at the polar sea near Severomorsk .

Selection and training as a cosmonaut

When the Soviet Union was looking for military pilots from August 1959 to train them as space travelers, Anikeev was shortlisted and on March 7, 1960 was accepted into the First Cosmonaut Group of the Soviet Union . From June 17, the cosmonaut group, which comprised 20 candidates, was complete. On August 30, 1960 he was promoted to captain . He completed his basic training on April 3, 1961 with the exam. Anikeev was not one of the six candidates who should first be trained for the Vostok spaceship . In parallel to his cosmonaut training, he completed a degree at the military academy for engineers of the air force "Prof. NJ Schukowski “ , it did not end, however.

Anikeiev attracted attention several times for his inappropriate behavior. On the night of March 13, 1962, he and Mars Rafikov left the base without permission. This later led to the expulsion of Rafikov from the cosmonaut corps.

On March 27, 1963, Anikeev was arrested drunk with his comrades Neljubow and Filatjew on the Chkalovsky military airfield for misconduct . According to the reports, the patrolling security forces were ready to overlook the incident if the cosmonauts apologized, which Anikeiev and Filatiev were willing to respond. Nelyubov refused, however, so the incident was reported to the authorities. Since there were earlier incidents, all three cosmonauts were released from the cosmonaut corps on April 17, 1963 (officially only on May 4, 1963).

Anikeev was married and childless.

Another military career

From July 2, 1963 Anikejew served again in the Air Force, first as a pilot, from November 1965 as a navigational officer in ground control posts of the Soviet Air Force. In September 1975 he retired from military service with the rank of captain .

Death and grave

Anikeiev died of cancer at the age of 59 and was buried in the New Cemetery in Beshetsk . His grave was neglected and overgrown. After this state of affairs was made public in September 2011, a new gravestone was erected on August 20, 2012, the 20th anniversary of Anikeiev's death, on a private initiative.

Awards

  • Order of the Red Star (June 17, 1961, for participating in the preparation of the first manned space flight)
