Leptostichaeus pumilus ( Gr .: "Leptos" = slim + Stichaeus (type genus of the Stichaeidae) + pumilus = "dwarf") is a small fish species from the family Eulophiidae in the sub-order of eel mother relatives (Zoarcales). It is a bottom-dwelling marine fish found in the Sea of Okhotsk , the north of the Sea of Japan, and the north coast of Hokkaidō .

Leptostichaeus pumilus becomes 7.8 cm long and is bright red in color. A dark spot, which is interrupted by a light vertical stripe, lies above the upper edge of the gill slit and extends into the dorsal fin. The head and front of the body show some interrupted dark bands. The head and body are strongly flattened laterally, the body covered with thin scales. The head and back of the body are bare. The pectoral fins are only small, pelvic fins are missing. The low dorsal, anal and caudal fins have grown together to form a continuous fin edge. The main rays of the caudal fin are branched.
