Lerchenhügel was the historical name of the western district of Birkenhügel in the municipality of Rosenthal am Rennsteig in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .

In 1708 the village Lerchenhügel was first mentioned in a document. Until 1918, the area of ​​the then municipality belonged to the Principality of Reuss younger line . There used to be two manors in the village, so it was a Frondorf . On February 28, 1923 Lerchenhügel and Pirk merged to form the municipality of Birkenhügel.
