Lester Shorr

Lester Shorr (born April 11, 1907 in New York City , † July 28, 1992 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American cameraman.

Life

Shorr worked as a simple cameraman from 1931 until the 1950s. The short film Forty Boys and a Song , nominated for an Oscar in 1941 , was his first production as an independent cameraman. From 1953 Shorr was mainly involved in television series, including Bonanza (1959/1960), The Beverly Hillbillies (1962/1963) and Three Girls and Three Boys (1969/1970) and Laverne & Shirley (1976/1977).

At the Primetime Emmy Awards in 1955 , he was honored in the category of Best Cinematography. This made him the first cameraman to win this award at the Emmys.

From 1975 to 1976 he was President of the American Society of Cinematographers .
