Lettra (own spelling: lettra ) was from November 2007 to March 2008 a German television broadcaster dedicated to reading . The resulting web TV portal lettra.tv has been in existence since May 25, 2009

history

The broadcast started on November 24, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. on the pay-TV platforms Premiere Star and arenaSAT .

The core of the program was the two-hour program lettra! - The show , in which recently published books, magazines and selected poems were presented and authors were interviewed.

There were also occasional literary adaptations and cartoons broadcast; however, the number of in-house productions predominated. Popular broadcast concepts were adapted and adjusted accordingly. For example, there was a cooking show with the program The Reading Kitchen , in which authors had participated.

In order to reach the largest possible number of viewers, children's programs and, at the same time, nightly programs about erotic literature were on the program. The zeitgeist was also taken into account with formats on the subject of blogging and specially organized poetry slams .

On March 18, 2008, the broadcaster had to file for bankruptcy because funds that had actually been promised had not been paid out. On April 1st, the broadcasting operation was discontinued despite previous denials by the broadcasting line. The insolvency administrator ruled out a restructuring, so that a return of the station can be ruled out.

The relaunch of the former TV station started on May 25, 2009 , now as a book portal with web TV . lettra is to be developed into a "multimedia world of experience" with current information on new releases, infotainment videos and interactive user communication. For this purpose, the audio-visual skills of the former PAY-TV broadcaster are to be combined with the journalistic experience of the online literature portal Seite-4.com.

Lettra wants to set new accents for the world of books on web TV. Authors, word artists, publishers, celebrities and readers are brought in front of the camera. In addition, every week lettra provides information about what is happening in the world of books in a newsletter.

The lettra editorial team is in Berlin and consists of four editors for videos, text and images.

The owner of lettra is Book Tune AG, which operates the portal in terms of content and technology. The marketing is carried out by Media Tune AG, Zurich.
