The Seemannshöft beacon with the international number B 1578 is an entrance light in the port of Hamburg at the mouth of the Köhlfleet in the Elbe .
location
The beacon is on the east side of the Köhlfleet estuary at the end of the Seemannshöft, right next to the Seemannshöft pilot house . The Köhlfleet is a navigable tributary (→ Fleet ) of the Elbe. The Seemannshöft is the tip of a narrow headland in the northwest of the Hamburg district Waltershof between the Köhlfleet and the Elbe main stream.
construction
The fire carrier is a red lattice beacon with platform, railing and outer ladder. The beacon stands on a square concrete foundation five meters above the level of the ground. On the platform there is an open “optic” at a height of nine meters above the mean flood (MHW), next to the platform a fog bell. The Seemannshöft beacon is the only beacon in the Port of Hamburg that is equipped with a fog signal.
Identifier
The beacon has the identifier Fl (2) R. 5.5 s, Bell (1) 9 s. The red lightning bolt with a group of two lightning bolts has a return of 5.5 seconds and a nominal range of 3 nautical miles . The flashes are 0.7 seconds long with an interruption of 1.3 seconds and a pause of 2.8 seconds. If visibility is poor, a bell will sound every 9 seconds.
