The first light ship Bremen , a wooden Galiot , was built in 1853 by the shipyard D. Oltmanns , Motzen / Unterweser, on behalf of the Senate of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen and laid out in November 1853 at the Mellum-Plate ( Outer Weser ), the later Bremen station. It replaced the lightship Weser No. 2 there . In the autumn of 1901 it was withdrawn from there to make way for the newly built lightship Weser II . In February 1902 it was sold to the Deetjen company in Elsfleth , Lower Saxony.
