Working on a light table

The light table is a work table whose work surface, due to the light distribution, consists entirely or partially of so-called milk glass or opaque acrylic glass , which is illuminated from below by an artificial light source.

As bulbs usually are fluorescent tubes ( standard light ) because of uniform illumination emphasis. Transparent material (e.g. plastic foils , films , transparent paper ) can be placed on top of one another, fixed and processed on this worktop .

Light table in photosetting

The light table is an important tool in print shops as well as in film and photo studios. For viewing radiological images, vertically aligned light tables (also light boxes ) are used, which are often mounted on the wall.

Tables that are offered as a combination of light and furniture for the living area are also referred to as light tables. Such designer tables usually have an acrylic-coated surface that is illuminated by LED lamps installed underneath . Some LED light tables can be controlled by a remote control with color and program selection as well as light dimming.
