The lighthouse Nisos Psyttalias ( Greek Φάρος Ψυτάλλειας ) is in the northeast of the island of Psyttalia . It was put into operation on January 26, 1856 and has since marked the island of Psyttalia and the opposite port entrance of Piraeus .
The 28 m high, round tower with a diameter of 3.60 m stands on a square base. A building measuring 7.60 mx 10.70 m is erected around the base. The buildings are made of natural stone in an isodomeric construction. The steps of the spiral staircase in the tower are made of marble. The lighthouse was manned by a guard until the 1990s. For this reason, in addition to the engine room, there is also a kitchen in the attached building. The Nisos Psittalia lighthouse was the first lighthouse to be equipped with a Fresnel lens (fifth order). The grave of Louise von Armansperg († September 11, 1835), daughter of the Greek Prime Minister Joseph von Armansperg, is 12 m southwest of the lighthouse .
