Leuven Bears (known as Stella Artois for sponsorship reasons ) is a Belgian basketball club from Leuven .
history
The club played for the first time in the 1999/00 season in the highest Belgian basketball league, the Ethias League. Since then he has played in this continuously.
In 2005 the team won the Belgian Basketball Cup. In the final Spirou Charleroi was defeated with 87:80. Then they took part in the FIBA EuroCup the following year , where the team was eliminated in the group phase.
In the 2008/2009 season Leuven first reached the play-offs for the Belgian championship, in which they were eliminated in the quarter-finals. In 2011 and 2012 they also reached the round of the last 8 and failed there again.
The club has been sponsored by the Belgian beer brand Stella Artois since the 2010/11 season .
