Levi Bissell (alternative spelling: Levi Bissel ; * 1800 ; † August 5, 1873 in New York ) was an American inventor and railway designer.

Bissell was already mentioned in Burton's Gentleman's Magazine - issue 6, author: Edgar Allan Poe (Philadelphia, 1840) - as well as in the Polytechnisches Journal - Volume 77 (Stuttgart, 1840) - when he invented an "air machine" in Newark . Bissell became known as the designer of the bogie cradle (1841) and the Bissel frame , which he used in a steam locomotive in 1857 .
