Lev Fyodorovich Kuznetsov

Lev Fyodorowitsch Kuznetsov ( Russian Лев Фёдорович Кузнецов ; born June 1, 1930 in Moscow ; † March 16, 2015 ) was a Soviet saber fencer .

When he first took part in the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 , Kuznetsov dropped out early on, and at the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 he won bronze both in the saber- singles and with the team, these were the first Olympic medals for the Soviet Union in the fencing competition.

With the Soviet team he won silver at the world championships in 1957 and 1958 , and bronze at the world championships in 1955 , 1959 and 1962 .

He later worked as a fencing trainer, his students won gold at the Olympic Games in 1964 , 1968 and 1980 .
