She worked for the Shaw Brothers from the mid-1960s and was one of the studios' most popular and best actresses.

Life

Li Ching attended a Catholic school as a child, but at her insistence, her parents enrolled her in the Shaw Brothers Drama School at the age of 14 . The girl turned out to be very talented and soon received film roles. She made her debut in the musical The Dancing Millionairess ; Further film adaptations of classical Chinese opera materials, so-called Huangmei xi , followed. She eventually became a young star for the Shaw Brothers, which earned her the nickname Baby Queen . At the age of 17 she played the leading role in the film Susanna , her ultimate breakthrough as an actress. She has received several awards for her performance.

In the film Dead End , she first met actor and martial artist Ti Lung , with whom she was dating for some time. According to Li Ching, this unhappy love attributed her subsequent decline. As one of the best and most beautiful actresses in the studios, she celebrated great successes in the following years under constant observation by the media public.

Li Ching's relationship with Ti Lung was a thorn in the side of Shaw Brothers officials and the relationship suffered as a result. Finally came the breakup. In the years that followed, Li Ching became more and more addicted to gambling, drugs and alcohol. She later overcame this, according to her own statements, but lived far away from the public and without significant contact with former colleagues.
