Li Guoying

Li Guoying (Chinese: 李国英; born December 1963 in Yuzhou , Henan Province ) is a Chinese politician and politician who is currently the governor of Anhui Province . In his early career, Li worked as a technician and administrator in the Yellow River Commission's national water ministry and Heilongjiang Province . He was transferred to Anhui in 2015 to serve as deputy party leader before becoming governor in 2016.

Life

Li Guoying was born in Yuzhou, Henan Province. He studied hydropower and electrical engineering at the North China University of Water and Electric Power in Zhengzhou and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1984 . He also received a PhD in Philosophy from the Central Party School and then a PhD in Environmental Sciences from Northeast Normal University .

After graduating from university, Li worked for the Yellow River Commission of the Ministry of Waterworks as a surveyor for the planning and research department. He spent most of his career in the waterworks, as assistant to the chief engineer, then as deputy director of the Yellow River Commission, after which he worked as chief engineer of the National Ministry of Waterworks. He was then transferred in May 1999 to head the Heilongjiang Waterworks Department.

In March 2011 he was appointed Deputy Minister of Waterworks and Chairman of the Yellow River Commission. He stayed in office until August 2015, when he was appointed deputy party leader of Anhui. A year later, on September 1, 2016, he was appointed deputy governor. He was confirmed as governor in a legislative session on January 21, 2017.

Li was an alternate member of the Communist Party's 18th Central Committee .
