Li Zuocheng

Li Zuocheng ( Chinese  李作成 ; * October 1953 in Anhua , Hunan ) is a Chinese general of the People's Liberation Army , who has been Chief of the General Staff since 2017 and thus military commander of the armed forces.

Life

Li Zuocheng joined the People's Liberation Army in 1970 after attending school and became a member of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in 1972 . After training as an officer and various posts as an officer and general staff officer, he was promoted to major general in 1997 and served as commander of the 41st Army Group between 1998 and 2002. He was then deputy chief of staff in the Chengdu military region from 2002 to 2007 and deputy commander of this military region between 2007 and 2013. During this time he was promoted to lieutenant general in 2009 and finally took over the post of commander of the Chengdu military region between 2003 and 2015 as the successor to General Li Shiming .

In 2015, Li Zuocheng was promoted to general and took over the post of commander of the newly created Army Command on January 1, 2016 . He kept this post until he was replaced by General Han Weiguo . He himself then took over the post of Chief of the General Staff of the People's Liberation Army from General Fang Fenghui in August 2017 and thus as military commander of the armed forces.
