Robert Destain

Robert Destain (born October 1, 1919 in Paris under the name Pierre Robert Madoulé , † December 20, 2010 in Rodez ) was a French actor.

Life

Destain was the son of a fisherman and a seamstress and grew up in poor circumstances. In order to earn money, he carried out newspapers during the holidays.

In 1940 Destain trained as a businessman and initially worked as a soldier in the French Air Force during the war. He saved a large part of his wages for acting classes at the Paris Conservatory . He had his breakthrough in 1949 in the role of a singer in the comedy Branquignol . One of his best-known roles was that of the baron in the film comedy Sharp Curves for Madame from 1966. In the following two years he played smaller roles in the Louis de Funès film comedies Baldwin, the holiday fright and Baldwin, the grouchy marriage . With de Funès he worked again in 1978 in the comedy The Crosshead . He last appeared in 1979 in the French comedy La Gueule de l'autre by and with Jean Poiret at the side of Michel Serrault and Curd Jürgens .

Destain died at the age of 91 at the ibis Rodez Center hotel and is said to have been buried anonymously in the Cimetière de Montmartre cemetery.
