Liane von Droste (* 1959 in Ofterdingen ) is a German journalist and book author.

Life

Liane von Droste grew up in the Steinlachtal near Tübingen . After graduating from high school in Mössingen, she studied English and German at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen. After the state examination, she completed a traineeship at the Reutlinger General-Anzeiger . She worked as an editor and editor-in-chief in Mössingen and for the Schwäbische Zeitung in Markdorf on Lake Constance. Liane von Droste is married and lives with her husband in Ofterdingen, Tübingen district, in Baden-Württemberg.

Since 2001 Liane von Droste has been working as a freelance journalist, author and lecturer for educational institutions, public and private clients as well as in journalistic training in the local journalist program of the Federal Agency for Civic Education . For the local journalists program of the bpb she leads journalism seminars, works as a group leader and speaker and wrote various conference readers for model seminars between 2001 and 2012, which deal with issues of migration, politics in the local section, business in the local area or "the network is local". Her journalistic work focuses on migration, Europe and life with disabilities. Two of her four books deal with historical emigration from Germany over the past 250 years. To this end, she has researched and published numerous biographies and portraits of Germans in America who emigrated from Germany in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Since 2008 Liane von Droste has been teaching at the University of Tübingen as part of the Studium Professionale. Since 2014 and 2016 she has been teaching at the Universities of Konstanz and Potsdam. As editor, she has been publishing the "Lebenswege-Zeitung" once a year since 2009, for which students from all subjects at the University of Tübingen research and write historical and current migration biographies. In 2010 she received a research - scholarship of the German Institute for Human Rights for the journalistic approach to a writing workshop with disabled people about human - rights - Disability: The UN Disability Convention . Together with the participants in this writing project, von Droste published the project newspaper "We are not handicapped, we are handicapped".
