Liberalia (festival)

The Liberalia (German also Liberalien ) were an annual festival in ancient Rome , which was celebrated on March 17th in honor of the fertility gods Liber and Libera . On this occasion, young men were first created the men toga (toga virilis) as a sign of coming of age . Honey cakes (liba) were sold and burned as offerings . In addition, a special amulet was placed on the house altar as an offering for the lares .
