The Liberty Rocks are a group of cliff rocks in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . In Nelson Strait they are southeast of the Mellona Rocks .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1961 after the British sealer Liberty from Newcastle upon Tyne , who operated in the waters around the southern Shetland Islands between 1821 and 1822.
