Licetus is an impact crater on the front of the moon , south of Stöfler crater and northeast of Cuvier . The crater is heavily eroded , the northern part of the crater interior is largely flat.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Italian doctor and physicist Fortunio Liceti .
