Lichtenberg Medal
The Lichtenberg Medal is the highest award of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences , which it donated in memory of the Göttingen scholar Georg Christoph Lichtenberg . It has been awarded annually since 2004 (every two years from 2015) "to particularly outstanding and publicly respected scientists". The winner receives a gold medal and a certificate.
The Academy selects the laureate upon suggestion from either the mathematical-physical or the philological-historical class. The right to propose changes between the two classes.
