The Lichtparcours Braunschweig 2000 was an initiative for the artistic design of the Braunschweig urban space, which took place parallel to the Expo 2000 in Hanover . The subtitle of the project was "Bridges over colored water". For this purpose, 13 artists created installations on the subject of light and water, especially for the bridges of the Okerum flood ditch, which flows around the Braunschweig city center and had previously received relatively little public attention. The light parcours aroused a great response in the media nationwide. Over 500,000 visitors viewed the 2000 light trail.

The artists included Daniel Buren , Esther Shalev-Gerz , Fabrizio Plessi , Christina Kubisch and Kazuo Katase .

The series of events was continued four years later with the Braunschweig Parcours 2004 , which was no longer limited to the bridges, and with the Light Parcours 2010 , ten years after the first event.
