The Liechtensteiner Nachrichten (complete: Liechtensteiner Nachrichten formerly “Oberrheinische Nachrichten” / Official Publication Organ for Liechtenstein ) was created by renaming it on September 3, 1924, appeared regularly in the Principality of Liechtenstein twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1924 to 1935 and was also distributed in the vicinity of the principality, especially in neighboring Switzerland. The sheet was partially published with special supplements.

Editing, frequency of publication, typesetting

The editor in charge was Alphons Thöny from 1924 to 1928 and for a short time in 1932. G. Risch took over the editorial office for a short time in 1928 and then from 1928 to 1930 Josef Sele, 1930 to 1932 and 1933 until the paper was closed in 1935 by Max Beck.

The numbering of the publication and year of the former Oberrheinische Nachrichten (founded on April 25, 1914) was retained. The first edition of the Liechtensteiner Nachrichten of September 3, 1924 appeared with the serial number 70 and in the 11th year. Simultaneously with the renaming, the gazette became the official publication organ for Liechtenstein (see also: Liechtenstein Official Gazette and Liechtenstein National Law Gazette ).

The Liechtensteiner Nachrichten was discontinued on December 28, 1935, issue No. 105 in its 22nd year, because the newspapers Liechtensteiner Nachrichten and Liechtensteiner Heimatdienst were merged at the beginning of 1936 and will be published in the future (until today) as the Liechtenstein Fatherland .

Due to the merger from 1936, the daily newspaper Liechtensteiner Vaterland sees itself as the successor to the Liechtensteiner Nachrichten and thus the Oberrheinische Nachrichten.

Like the Oberrheinische Nachrichten previously, the Liechtensteiner Nachrichten was published in German and was written in Fraktur until it was discontinued in 1935 .

Political orientation

Politically, the Liechtensteiner Nachrichten was closely based on democratic , Christian-social currents in Liechtenstein and the Christian-social People's Party of Liechtenstein and was the political mouthpiece of this movement / party.

The merger of the newspapers Liechtensteiner Nachrichten and Liechtensteiner Heimatdienst to form the Liechtenstein Fatherland ran parallel to the merger of the Christian-Social People's Party with the Liechtensteiner Heimatdienst to form the Fatherland Union, which is still in existence today, on January 5, 1936.

financing

The Liechtensteiner Nachrichten financed itself primarily through subscriptions and the sale of advertisements. The advertisements made up at least 1/8 of the total volume in the total text of the sheet.
