Liesganigstein (Wiener Neustadt)
The Liesganigstein is a monument in Wiener Neustadt (Lower Austria) on Neunkirchner Strasse opposite house 55 at the confluence of Kammanngasse in a green area. The stone is reminiscent of the development of the Wiener Neustädter baseline , a geodetic baseline of the first Austrian national survey of 1762 by Joseph Liesganig .
description
The Liesganigstein, a volute-like, three-sided truncated pyramid, is crowned by a globe and bears inscriptions, panels and a medallion with the Habsburg double-headed eagle. The year 1762 is given for the construction, renovations were in 1930 and 1954, whereby in 1954 it was relocated to the other side of the street in a green area.
In 1967 an image of the Wiener Neustadt pillar was shown on a special post stamp on the occasion of 150 years of the land register in Austria .
