Lifelover

Lifelover was a Swedish metal band from Stockholm founded in 2005 .

history

Lifelover was founded in June 2005 by "()" and "B". After an improvised demo recording, work began a year later on the first album, Pulver , which was released in July 2006. During the recording, LR and 1853 joined the band. As a result of the recordings for the second album Erotik , which was released in February 2007, "H." also joined the band. At the end of 2007 they signed with Avantgarde Music . Fix and S also became members of Lifelover. In return, LR left the band. In October 2008 the band released their third album called Konkurs . In 2009, 1853 and S left the band, after which Non joined as a new drummer. After the publication of the MCD Dekadens in October 2009 and a few live appearances, 1853 and LR rejoined the band.

On September 2, 2010, the conclusion of a four-album deal with Prophecy Productions was announced. The German indie label initially released a new edition of the Konkurs album at the end of November 2010 and finally the fourth lifelover album Sjukdom in February 2011 . In May 2011, Kral joined the band and a drummer again. Guitarist, singer and main songwriter Jonas "B" Berqvist died on September 9th of the same year for reasons that were initially unknown. The band then announced their split on September 16. Nevertheless, the announced appearance should take place on October 14, 2011 in Essen's Carl colliery in honor of Berqvist, but not under the name Lifelover; however, the band was listed under this name on the side of the Zeche Carl.

A few months after B's death, an autopsy was performed with the result that he died of "poisoning and overdose". Even before that, there was speculation in his personal circle that an accidental overdose of benzodiazepines , which he had been taking for a number of years for generalized anxiety disorder , could be responsible for death.

In 2015 the remaining band members performed again under the name Lifelover at the Prophecy Fest in Balve. The occasion was the ten-year anniversary of the band's foundation.

style

Although the musical origin of the band can be found in Black Metal , the music stands out for its extreme, unconventional and experimental nature, which makes it almost impossible to assign it to a musical genre. In addition to the typical black metal screams and guitar riffs, Gothic rock and other post-punk influences can also be recognized. The band itself calls the music “Depressive Rock”, which is also reflected in the content of the lyrics.
