Light Wing AG was founded in 2000. In 2013 the company obtained the Production Organization Approval (POA).

The Lightwing AC4 is a two-seater high-decker. With a maximum take-off weight of 600 kg and a maximum payload of 230 kg, it is one of the Light Sport Aircrafts (LSA). It is powered by a 100 HP Rotax 912 iS Sport injection engine and is the first light aircraft to be manufactured in Switzerland. In August 2015 the aircraft achieved type certification by the European Aviation Safety Agency . In November 2017, Light Wing AG received certification from the Federal Office for Civil Aviation (FOCA) for the production of the AC4. Then the production of the first 10 aircraft started.

Incidents

On June 21, 2019, a Lightwing AC4 crashed into a forest south of Frankfurt am Main after engine problems . The aircraft suffered a total write-off, the two occupants were injured.
