The Lightning GT is a British automobile design in the form of a GT sports car that is operated with electrical energy and was originally designed with four wheel hub motors each delivering around 120 kW (163 hp ) , later with a DC synchronus twin motor drivetrain (double direct current - Synchronous motor ). The traction motors are of a lithium titanate battery powered, which depending on the charging option according to the manufacturer in each case 15 hours to two and a half hours (onboard charger) or ten to twenty minutes ( Fast charge can be recharged).
The vehicle with the design of a GT sports car was presented in the UK in June 2007 by Chris Dell , director of the London-based Lightning Car Company , and developer and chief engineer Arthur Wolstenholme .
The car is said to cost € 137,000 (as of September 2009). The start of series production was initially stated by the manufacturer as 2010 and has since been postponed in several steps to the end of 2015.
