Lights Out is the sixth music album by the British band UFO , which was released in May 1977 on the Chrysalis Records label. It reached number 23 on the US Billboard charts, making it the most successful album in the band's history.
circumstances
After the German “child prodigy” Michael Schenker left the Scorpions in 1973 to join UFO, things went uphill for the British. In 1974 the album Phenomenon was released and reached number 202 on the US charts. The 1975 album Force It even made it to number 71 in the United States. However, its predecessor No Heavy Petting , released in 1976 , suffered a bit of a damper. It only reached number 169. From February to March 1977, the successor was recorded in the Associated Independent Recording Studios in London . Paul Raymond joined the group for the previous keyboardist Danny Peyronel . Ron Nevison came on board for the previous producer Leo Lyons (bassist of Ten Years After ). The cover design comes from Hipgnosis.
With Alan McMillan, a musician can be heard for the first time who put horn and string arrangements into songs using synthesizers . This can be heard especially with Love to Love .
