Phenomenon is the third studio album by the British hard rock band UFO , released in May 1974.

Almost a year before the album was released, in June 1973, the then 18-year-old Michael Schenker joined the band after he had separated from his old band, the Scorpions . When he got to England he didn't speak a word of English. Nevertheless, the communication worked so well straight away that work on the album could soon be started.

Schenker was significantly involved in the creation of the song material, which resulted in a clearly audible change in the band's sound. From then on, the previously strong influences of Led Zeppelin , Black Sabbath and Deep Purple faded into the background.

The album was recorded at Morgan Studios in London and produced by Ten Years After bassist Leo Lyons . In 1994 it was remastered by Sound Recording Technology , Cambridge. A 3CD deluxe edition will be released in October 2019, CD 3 contains live recordings (8 songs) from the November 5th, 1974 concert in Atlanta / USA. The cover design comes from Hipgnosis .

The song Doctor Doctor , which became the figurehead for the band, was later often covered, e.g. B. from the heavy metal band Iron Maiden, which has been very successful since the 80s .
