Lightspark is free / open source software for playing Flash files. It should be an alternative to the Flash player. It supports Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome . Above all, the functions of modern hardware should be used and the specifications published by Adobe implemented. Lightspark supports OpenGL -based rendering and LLVM -based ActionScript . It already runs much of ActionScript 3.0. It uses OpenGL Shader ( GLSL ).

Lightspark supports H.264 encoded Flash videos on YouTube . and Vimeo .

After a phase of stagnation in development, the project has been active again since summer 2015.
