Ligue d'AOF de Football

The Ligue d'AOF de Football was a football association in the French colonial federation of French West Africa , to which the colonies Senegal , French Sudan (today Mali ), Upper Volta (today Burkina Faso ), Niger , Mauritania , Guinea , Dahome (today Benin ) , Ivory Coast and the non-federation mandate French Togoland (today's Togo ).

In the interwar period, football, among other sports, was organized by the Commission Permanente du Sport under Captain Tricoire, but it was limited to the area of Dakar , the then capital of the Federation. During the Second World War, at the time of the Vichy regime , the Comité Fédéral des Sports was created, which now encompassed the entire territory of French West Africa. Due to internal disagreements, the football officials founded their own organization, the Ligue d'AOF de Football .

The inaugural meeting took place on March 31, 1946 in the city hall of Dakar under the chairmanship of the native arbitrator Barat. From 1948 until its dissolution in 1960, the year of independence for most of the colonies, Joseph Gomis was president of the association. In the early 1950s, the association became a member of the Fédération Française de Football .
