Ligue des Bibliothèques Européennes de Recherche

The Ligue des Bibliothèques Européennes de Recherche (LIBER) (Engl. Association of European Research Libraries ) is an association of European Research Libraries .

The association was founded in 1971 under the auspices of the Council of Europe . This association currently consists of over 400 members, mainly from European national and university libraries . The association's secretariat was initially located at the Royal Library in Copenhagen , but on September 30, 2008 it was transferred to the Royal Library of the Netherlands in The Hague and is now a foundation under Dutch law.

LIBER sees itself as a network that represents the interests of European research libraries by promoting efficient information services, access to research results and the preservation of cultural heritage.
