Ligula
The word ligula (lat. Ligula : "tip") denotes different things in the following contexts:
In zoology:
- Ligula (genus) , two species of tapeworm in the Pseudophyllidae family
- Ligula (insects) , a usually arch-shaped sclerite on the distal edge of the prementum in insects.
- Ligula (Octopodidae) , connecting structure of the Hectocotylus in Octopodidae
In botany:
- the ligule in various plants, especially sweet and sour grasses
- a scale in the leaf axil of moss ferns, see Moss ferns # leaves
- the parts of the secondary crown of some carnations
- the tongue of the ray- flower in the composites
