Lil Xan (born September 6, 1996 in Redlands ; real life Nicholas Diego Leanos ) is an American rapper and songwriter of Mexican origin. He became famous for his song Betrayed, which was awarded Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in 2017 . His trademark are his face tattoos.

life and career

Leanos went to Redlands East Valley High School and left without a degree in ninth grade (freshman year). He then worked as a street cleaner and sold drugs before he started rapping as a hobby.

Leanos tried his hand at photography until his camera was stolen at a Steven Cannon concert where he worked as a photographer. He decided to quit photography and try his hand at rapper because a studio session was cheaper than buying a new camera. Furthermore, some of his friends were already active in the music industry.

In 2014, Leanos misused the drug Xanax for the first time and developed an addiction to it and other drugs. After two years of being addicted to Xanax, he decided against the drug and now teaches through his songs what the drug can do to you. He said on the social media platform Twitter: "I'm an anti xan movement and I'm still struggling with other vices [...]" In an interview with Noisey he said that he is currently trying to get away from it to solve the drug Norcos .

As a solo artist, Leanos became known through platforms such as SoundCloud and YouTube . Leano's notoriety grew rapidly after he released his song Betrayed in August 2017. The song peaked at number 67 on the Billboard Hot 100 .

In an interview with XXL , he announced that he would release his first album Total Xanarchy in 2018 .
