Lilian Hasler (* 1960 in Aarau , Switzerland ) is a Liechtenstein artist who lives in Zurich and Pune ( India ).

life and work

Hasler attended school in Suhr from 1967 to 1976 . After training as a sculptor and attending the Bern School of Applied Arts from 1976 to 1980, Hasler worked in her studio in the "Alte Spinnerei" Wettingen and, since 1986, in the Zurich Sculptors Working Group in Schlieren near Zurich. She was shaped by the youth riots in Zurich from 1980 and the discussion about social and socio-political events. In 1991 her work "Fixer" was created, which attracted a large media presence. In 2000 she received an eight-month scholarship at the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris , where she increasingly dealt with theoretical and conceptual approaches. In 2013 she stayed at the Cité again for 4 months and worked on her BombayParisProject. From 2004 to 2006 she studied at the Zurich University of the Arts and obtained a Master of Advanced Studies in “Cultural & Gender Studies”. In 2007 she received a work year scholarship from the Principality of Liechtenstein in India, where she has partly lived since then. Dealing with the foreign and the other has a decisive influence on her work. Her work includes sculpture, painting, drawing, installation, and artist books.
