The Lilienthal Bekas ( Ukrainian Лілієнталь Х-32 Беҝас ) is a multipurpose microlight aircraft from Ukraine with two to three seats. The first flight took place in March 1993. The Lilienthal X-32 was produced in a number of over 400 pieces in several variants.

History and construction

The Lilienthal Bekas is an ultralight aircraft in pod and boom construction with a pusher configuration , a high wing and a deep tail boom that carries a T-tail. The glazed fuselage has two seats in a tandem configuration. The wing is braced to the lower fuselage by two pairs of cross struts and provided with flaps that have a maximum deflection of 40 °. A fixed tricycle undercarriage with a support wheel is mounted on the underside of the fuselage. The engine is mounted on the rear top of the nacelle behind the cab; Engines with an output of 60 to 100 hp (45 to 75 kW) can be installed, most commonly two or four cylinder engines such as the Rotax 582 , 912UL and 912ULS. The engine is clad on some aircraft. A large part of the slim boom consists of a wide wing rib with a straight leading edge. On some aircraft, it is extended forward with a fillet. The vertical tail unit, which is also slightly arrow-shaped, is located at the end of the boom. The horizontal stabilizer is braced by a strut on each side up to the end of the boom. The X-32 Bekas first flew in March 1993 and received the Ukrainian type certificate in 1995. The Rotax 582 and 912 variants were certified in 2003 and 2005. Between 2003 and 2006, the X-32 and X-34 were marketed by JAI (Jordan Aerospace Industries) as the RumBird X-32 and GulfBird X-34. In India and the South Asian countries, the X-32 and X-34 are manufactured by the Indian partners Engenious Aerospace Ltd. marketed and produced. More than 400 X-32s had been sold by 2009. The aircraft has Joint Aviation Requirements JAR VLA certification. The name Lilienthal was chosen as a tribute to Otto Lilienthal .
