Lilienthal Island is a small island off the Budd coast of the East Antarctic Wilkesland . In the group of Donovan Islands in Vincennes Bay , it lies immediately north of Glasgal Island .
Aerial photographs of the US American Operation Highjump (1946–1947) were used for initial mapping. The American polar explorer Carl R. Eklund named it in 1957 after Billie R. Lilienthal (1936-2017) of the United States Navy , who was working as an aerographer on Wilkes Station that year .
