Lillian Beckwith
Lillian Beckwith (actually Lillian Comber , nee Lloyd ; * 1916 in Ellesmere Port , Cheshire , † January 3, 2004 on the Isle of Man ) was an English writer .
Life
Beckwith was born Lillian Lloyd in 1916. Her father's grocer was the background for her first autobiographical book, which describes family life around 1920 from the perspective of a child.
In 1937 she married Ted Comber, with whom she moved to the Isle of Skye in 1942, during World War II , where the couple lived for nearly twenty years. Beckwith has described her experiences there in other warm-hearted books. After leaving the Hebrides, she moved to the Isle of Man in 1962, where she lived until her death in 2004.
