Lim Chong Eu

Do Dato 'Seri Dr. Lim Chong Eu (born May 28, 1919 in Penang ; † November 24, 2010 ibid) was a Malaysian politician and businessman.

In 1937 he received a scholarship and studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh until 1944 . His brother is the architect and expert on ginger and palm trees Dato 'Seri Lim Chong Keat (* 1930).

Lim was an active politician and chairman of the Malaysian Chinese Association and Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia . From 1969 to 1990 he was Prime Minister of Penang. As such, he is considered the father of the industrialization of Penang. He ensured that numerous companies in the electronics industry settled in Penang, which then developed into the "Silicon Island" of Asia.

After 1990 he withdrew from politics to concentrate on his business. He was chairman and advisor to several large companies.
