history

The first edition of Limburgs Dagblad (until 1959: Limburgsch Dagblad ) appeared on October 26, 1918. From January 1943 to September 1944, during the German occupation in World War II , the newspaper did not appear - thus it escaped a temporary publication ban after the war. this applied to all newspapers that continued to appear after 1942.

In 1972 the newspaper was taken over by " De Telegraaf Holding ", which later in 2000 also acquired its local competitor Dagblad De Limburger and merged the two newspapers on January 1, 2001 in the new subsidiary "Media groep Limburg".

In April 2006 the British media investment company "Mecom" acquired the "Media groep Limburg" from "De Telegraaf Holding". On August 1st of the same year, Limburgs Dagblad and Dagblad De Limburger , Huub Paulissen, received a joint editor-in-chief for the first time.

The Limburgs Dagblad was published for the last time on December 29, 2017, and since December 30, only the De Limburger with the same content has been printed.
