Limpet Iceland (of English limpet , limpet ' ) is the southernmost of Léonie Islands in the entrance to Ryder Bay on the southeast coast of Adelaide Island west of the Antarctic Peninsula .
The island was discovered during the Fifth French Antarctic Expedition (1908-1910) under the direction of the polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot . The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey carried out surveys in 1948. It is named after the limpets that can be found here in large numbers .
